Peptide compounds discussed on this website are unlicensed medicinal products that have not been approved by the MHRA. They may only be prescribed by a registered medical practitioner following a comprehensive face-to-face consultation and where the prescriber concludes it is necessary to meet your specific clinical needs.
Always seek the advice of your doctor or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or treatment.
Are peptides licensed medicines in the UK?
Some peptides are licensed medicines in the UK for specific indications. However, many peptides used in therapeutic protocols are not licensed by the MHRA. These are sometimes referred to as 'unlicensed medicines' or 'specials'. When our doctors prescribe unlicensed peptides, they do so on an individual patient basis where they conclude it is necessary to meet your specific clinical needs, in accordance with GMC guidance.
Who can receive peptide therapy?
Peptide therapy is not suitable for everyone. Eligibility is determined on an individual basis following a comprehensive medical consultation. Our doctors will assess your medical history, current health status, and specific needs before determining whether peptide therapy may be appropriate for you. Some conditions may preclude treatment.
Can I get peptide therapy without a consultation?
No. A face-to-face medical consultation is mandatory before any peptide therapy can be prescribed. This is a regulatory requirement and essential for patient safety. We do not prescribe peptides remotely to new patients without prior in-person assessment.
What are the risks and side effects?
All medical treatments carry potential risks and side effects. Because many peptides are unlicensed, their full safety profile may not be as well-established as licensed medicines. Potential risks and side effects will be discussed thoroughly during your consultation, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions before deciding whether to proceed with treatment.
Will peptide therapy definitely work for me?
We cannot guarantee outcomes from any treatment. Individual responses vary, and the evidence base for some peptides remains under development. Our doctors will provide you with realistic expectations based on available evidence and clinical experience. We encourage patients to maintain realistic expectations and to view peptide therapy as one component of a broader approach to health and wellness.
What happens during the consultation?
During your consultation, you will meet with a GMC-registered doctor who will conduct a thorough assessment including discussion of your medical history, current health status, goals, and any relevant diagnostic tests or biomarkers. Based on your individual circumstances, our doctor will determine whether any peptide therapy may be appropriate for your specific clinical needs.
What is informed consent?
If treatment is recommended, you will receive detailed information about the proposed therapy, including the unlicensed status of any peptide compounds, potential benefits, risks, side effects, and alternatives. You will have the opportunity to ask questions before providing written informed consent. This process ensures you fully understand the treatment before proceeding.
Is ongoing monitoring required?
Yes. Patients receiving peptide therapy will be monitored regularly to assess response and safety. Follow-up consultations are an essential part of our care protocols. We maintain clear protocols for managing any adverse events. Regular monitoring helps ensure your safety and allows us to adjust treatment as needed.
Does booking a consultation guarantee treatment?
No. Booking a consultation does not guarantee that treatment will be prescribed. Treatment decisions are made by our doctors following comprehensive assessment and are based solely on clinical appropriateness. Our doctors may conclude that peptide therapy is not appropriate for your individual circumstances.
